Chacchoben Mayan Ruins

Enter the heart of Chacchoben’s ceremonial center and explore its secrets while you enliven your senses with the sounds of nature.

Our Chacchoben Maya Ruins Tour includes a two hour guided tour with a native guide who will unveil the history and secrets of this vibrant ceremonial center that flourished around 300AD and awaited silent under the jungle as evidence the glorious past of the most brilliant civilization of the new world.

The experience is complemented with a short walk under the jungle and climbing Gran Basamento, Chacchoben’s ritual heart, for spectacular views of the surrounding jungle and to admire Temple One, Chacchoben’s astronomical hub.

This tour also offers the possibility of learning about the local plants and seeing some species of the local fauna including birds and spider monkeys.

You will be picked up just outside of the Costa Maya cruise ship terminal, From our meeting point we will drive for about 50 minutes to the Chacchoben archaeological site where you will have a 1.5 hour guided tour with a native guide who will unveil the history of a Mayan city that flourished around 300 AD.

On our way we will pas a famous and extraordinary local village called Pedro Santos also know as Pineapple Village there you can find a unique honey pineapple where our guide make a brief explanation of the village (Stop of 5 – 10 minutes upon request for picture, or any purchase of fruits).

The visit to the Chacchoben archaeological is complemented with a walk under the jungle to explore and get to know the different structures on the site like: Templo 24, Plaza B, Gran Plaza, Gran Basamento, Los Gemelos, Las Vasijas and Temple One.

During this excursion you will also have the possibility of learning about local plants and seeing some species of local fauna including birds and spider monkeys.

After leaving Chacchoben we will take you back to the town of Mahahual. We will finish the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Excursion taking you back to the port o we can take you to a nice clear beach to relax and enjoy the rest of your day.
